I wrote this song in New York, several months ago, about a shitty coworker. The original title was “Sad Pony (I’m Gonna Get You Fired, Boy).” I didn’t have a second verse for it, until one night, when I met an equally lame, negative soul in a dive bar on the Lower East Side. I went home, penciled that guy in, and ever since, “Sad Pony” has come to represent, for me, anyone who channels his own insecurities onto you—negative people ride sad ponies. Negative people ride sad ponies!
If you caught my going-away show in Brooklyn that last week of May, you saw this jammed out hard with the full band. It’s better that way. But right now I’m a bit drunk, home alone, and nothin’ on the menu for today. So I figured I’d treat y’all to an off-the-cuff, bathroom-acoustics version of this number. Lyrics to follow.
#SAVETHEBEES "Raw Honey" is the latest hit single from genre-bending New York psych-pop duo Dynasty Electric. The track is the result of a New Year’s Eve Party jam session in the Indaba Music studio: “We were all having a blast at a party in the studio, so I pulled up the Raw Honey beat and turned on the mic and everyone just started singing parts like magic,” says vocalist / producer Seth Digital. Featuring verses from Russell Simmons protege Luminahdi, the track buzzes with a raw fusion of electronic, pop, and hip hop. “The original inspiration behind this track is actually Raw Honey, which is pure, unheated, unfiltered and is an amazing natural food. You’ve never really had honey before unless it’s Raw Honey. The band goes through jars and jars of it. The lyrics sound like innuendo, but they are actually about eating raw honey, which is a pretty sexy thing if you ask us.”
"This video was a joy to create- a sexy, intelligent parody with a message. At the heart of this vibration is raising awareness about the declining bee population. Bees pollinate 1/3 of the world’s food supply and provide us with one of the healthiest foods on the planet- Raw Honey. Save the bees!" says Jenny Electrik.
